Class Descriptions

CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

Vinyasa  Yoga

Vinyasa yoga is often called "flow yoga". It isa type of yoga that links movement and breath to attain balance in the mind and body. From the Sanskrit “to place in a special way,” vinyasa aligns a deliberate sequence of poses with the breath to achieve a continuous flow. An "open level" class will offer modifications and variations and is suitable for all levels of practice.

Gentle Yoga

Gentle yoga classes can include movements done at a slow pace and breathing exercises. It may also include longer holds and even have rest in between poses. Gentle yoga classes can be an excellent option for seniors and beginners to explore the physical body. Gentle yoga can strengthen muscles and joints and improve flexibility despite the name. Students often find this style of yoga to be meditative and refreshing.

Yin Yoga
While most yoga practices will stretch and strengthen the muscles, Yin yoga is going to bring the stretch into deeper connective tissue. These longer held static postures stimulate deeper tissue like fascia and is meant to cause energetic benefits through-out the body and can help to improve tissue elasticity along with joint mobility.

Yin-Yasa

This class is a hybrid of Yin yoga and Vinyasa flow.  You will find some deeper held stretches to get into the connective tissue, joined with a traditional vinyasa flow connecting the breath to the movements of the body.

Restorative Yoga

In Restorative yoga the focus is on the release of mind-body tension and bringing the nervous system into a state of healing. Using props to support the body, allowing time for longer asanas (postures or poses) and deeper breathing, restorative yoga helps elicit a relaxation response in the nervous system.

Chi gong

Similar to Tai Chi, Qigong, pronounced “chi gong,” was developed in China thousands of years ago as part of traditional Chinese medicine. It involves using exercises to optimize energy within the body, mind, and spirit, with the goal of improving and maintaining health and well-being.
